Accessibility

Tanzfabrik Berlin is continuously working on improving accessibility in order to provide all visitors with as barrier-free a stay as possible. As a learning organisation, we are in an ongoing process of raising awareness.

From two weeks before the first performance date, you will find the information on accessibility under the announcement text of the individual plays on our website. We will inform you of any last-minute changes by e-mail in advance.

If you have any further questions about accessibility or would like to give us feedback, please contact Anna Königshofer at: access@tanzfabrik-berlin.de or by phone: 030-200 592 70.

Tickets

Tickets for Tanzfabrik Berlin events can be booked via the ↪ Online Ticketshop.

If this is not barrier-free for you, you can also book your tickets by e-mail or telephone. To do so, contact us at ticket@tanzfabrik-berlin.de.de or call 030-200 592 70.

Admission is free for persons accompanying people with disabilities (an official disabled person's ID is not required).

Accessibility of individual events and offers

Information on accessibility for the individual events can be found under the individual events.

Information on barrier-free offers, such as audio descriptions, tactile and stage tours and relaxed performances, can be found on the individual detail pages of the respective event, and here in a collected form.

We endeavour to provide individual trigger warnings, so-called content notes, for the individual events, which indicate potentially incriminating content. Communication about this allows potential visitors to decide for themselves whether a performance is accessible for them in terms of content or not. Please understand that content notes are not available for all events. Please feel free to contact us by email at access@tanzfabrik-berlin.de or by phone at 030-200 592 70 if you would like to request information about specific incriminating content for specific events in advance.

Furthermore, under the tab "Accessibility" on the individual event pages you will find information on the use of strobe lights, loud sound, as well as special effects such as fog, which may pose a health risk to some visitors.

↪ Seating options

Seating for the performances will be arranged individually. Usually we offer always beanbags. Exceptions to this rule will be  noted on the individual event pages.
Wheelchair seating is available at each performance.

↪ Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs are generally allowed at all events. Exceptions to this rule will be explicitly noted on the individual event pages.

Current Accessible Offer

↪ Listening to and feeling contemporary dance: Haptic Access Tour & Audio Description

In order to make its programme accessible to blind and visually impaired people, Tanzfabrik Berlin Bühne offers audio descriptions and tactile tours - so-called Haptic Access Tours - for selected events.
Haptic Access Tours take place before the performance. The live tours allow visitors to experience the space, the performers, the costumes and props as well as the most important movement elements of a performance through touch and their own movement.
Audio descriptions take place parallel to the respective performances. A professional speaker describes visual details such as movement, gestures, facial expressions, scenery, costumes and props. The audio descriptions are usually live audio tracks that are transmitted to the audience via a wireless headphone system.

↪  Family Friendly Environment

With the afternoon performances labelled "Family Friendly Environment - All families welcome", we would like to encourage parents and carers to take part in our stage programme together with their children. Although the performances are not specifically designed for young audiences, we want to create a family-friendly environment. For example, we understand that children may not be able to sit still all the time and that families may wish to leave the performance in between or earlier. Immediately before and after the event, there is a child-friendly area at your disposal with toys and drawing utensils. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer childcare.. Admission is free for all accompanied children up to and including the age of 12.

↪ Relaxed Performances

Relaxed Performances would like to welcome all visitors for whom sitting still for a long time in the theatre is a barrier (for example autistic people, people with Tourette's, with learning difficulties or chronic pain). Noises and movements from the audience are welcome. Visitors can leave and return to the auditorium at any time.

Venue Uferstudios

We present events at various venues and often in urban spaces. Our main venue, however, is the Uferstudios.

↪ Directions

The best way to reach the Uferstudios for contemporary dance by public transport is via the underground station Pankstraße (U8; bus lines M27 and N8) and via the underground station Osloer Straße (U8 and U9; tram lines M13 and 50; bus lines 150, 255, N8, N9 and N52).

The underground station Osloer Straße has a lift and a guidance system for the blind. From here it is approx. 600 m to the Uferstudios.

The Pankstraße underground station is approx. 400 m from the Uferstudios, but is still being renovated and is therefore currently not accessible without steps. Further information can be found here.

↪ Pick-up service

For public events of Tanzfabrik Berlin e.V. we offer a free pick-up service for disabled persons from the underground station Osloer Straße. Registrations for this service are accepted up to 48 hours in advance at ticket@tanzfabrik-berlin.de. or by telephone on 030-200 592 70.

If you are unable to register in time, you can make use of the free escort service offered by VBB, which can take you from your doorstep to the Uferstudios. Online registration is possible up to one day in advance: https://www.vbb.de/vbb-services/barrierefreiheit/begleitservice/.. If you need help with the organisation, feel free to contact us and we will support you.

↪ Parking

There are two disabled parking spaces in the Uferstudios courtyard. These are located at the level of the dance office (indicated by the blue signage) and in front of the extension of the Heizhaus complex, to the right of the chimney.

↪ Accessibility of the site

The Uferstudios site can be reached via two ground-level entrances, which are usually open Monday to Friday from approx. 8 am to 7 pm and are therefore freely passable during these times. The entrance at Badstraße 41a is 1.10 m wide and not intended for vehicles. The metal gate can be opened from the inside with a strong twisting movement, which requires more force. On Badstraße itself, at the junction of Exerzierstraße/Koloniestraße, there is currently an unclear routing due to construction work. We ask for special caution here. Vehicles may only enter the grounds via the entrance at Uferstraße 23. If the electric rolling gate at Uferstraße 23 is not open and access is therefore not possible, please contact our staff, who will be happy to open the gate for you.

↪ Paths on the grounds

The grounds do not have a guidance system for the blind. From the Badstraßen entrance it is approx. 33 m (approx. 55 steps) to Studio 1, 110 m (approx. 180 steps) to the staircase of the Tanzfabrik office wing and 207 m (approx. 340 steps) to the Heizhaus.

↪ Accessibility of the event and rehearsal rooms

Studio 1 has a 1.5 m lowered area that is only accessible via 7 steps. The studio is therefore not barrier-free on the lower surface. Access to the upper part of the studio is possible without steps. There are two wheelchair spaces here.
Studio 5, is accessible without steps, but has a raised wooden floor area that can be reached via a 1.5% sloping feeder ramp.
Studio 4, is completely at ground level and thus accessible without steps.
Studio 14 is almost at ground level. There is no raised area or similar in the studios themselves. There is a slight slope of 1.0% from the outside to the entrance of the studios.
The office wing on the 1st floor is not accessible without steps. This is where our offices are located.

↪ Barrier-free sanitary facilities

There are two barrier-free WCs with showers (measuring 2.6 m x 2.1 m) on the grounds, which can be accessed without steps. The door width of the respective sanitary facilities is 0.95 m. The toilets are located in the foyer of studios 3, 4 and 5 as well as in the extension of the boiler house complex (by the chimney), which is accessible via a 1.2 m wide ramp with a 5.2% incline and a length of 6.60 m.
