Dancing Ecologies

A site-specific series – dancing new relationships with nature and plants around the Kreuzberg Area. How can we learn directly from plants and work with them as partners in artistic contexts?In this workshop Angela will share her dancing and sounding practice of encountering plants and turning to the multiplicity of nature in our own bodies. We will explore movement and sound research through encounters with local plants and embodied resonance, asking how we can be moved by these relations. We will experiment how human, and nonhuman bodies can dance and be danced by each other and how we can offer our human bodies as meeting grounds for shared ecologies. Sourcing from plant-inspired touch, deep listening and partnering we will journey together into a shared sphere of resonance through the dancing and sounding body.We’ll spend the first half of the day dancing in studio 4, then move outdoors to the beautiful parks surrounding the studio for the second half. No previous experience is required, only an openness and interest in subtle attunement with plants.

Angela Vitovec also known as Angela Schubot, Berlin, choreographer, dancer, teacher, movement researcher, bodyworker and mother, collaborated with Martin Clausen (TWO FISH /2000-2013) and with Jared Gradinger (2009-2022). Angela is educated in traditional amazonian plant medicine, has an education in perceptive pedagogy and fascia therapy Method Danis Bois and teaches among others at ImPulsTanz Vienna and HZT-Berlin. Angelas methods are searching for bodies of multiplicity in deep communion with plant nature. Following her methods she co-created the Solo SAMMAL/MOSS (2022), MOSSBELLY (2023) and YA! - a Yarrow choir (2024). 2023 she changed her artistic name, taking the name of her forgotten grandfather, who was made aware to her by the oak: Vitovec.
