Compilation of favourite tracks to dance with

Showing by Christina Ciupke, Darko Dragičević
In the frame of Tanznacht Forum EXPANDED

During her residency at our new, temporary location Grüntaler 9 – a dedicated project space for performance art in the Wedding district – Christina Ciupke will work on her current research to build up an archive of movement strategies.

The aim is to enable an analytical view of the inner organism of her body of works created since 2000 from today's perspective. This includes reorganising and cataloguing her knowledge of the body and of choreographic devices from a temporal distance. An integral part of this would be unfolding and documenting the diverse compositional and interdisciplinary strategies that have emerged in collaboration with other artists. Does the knowledge produced contain relevant potential and information that should be passed on to contemporary dance and the future?

The current format expands the sketch idea that was presented during Tanznacht in Berlin in 2023. For this further development the artists will take into account the moment of togetherness. The choreography is being created and shaped from evening to evening in exchange with the audience. Visitors will contribute one of their favourite tracks that they like to dance to. Every evening Darko will create a new compilation of the favourite songs contributed by the audience present that evening, and Christina will dance to it.

This format is a tribute to the favourite tracks we love, that remind us of moments from the past and the people we have shared them with. It is also an attempt to connect and create safe spaces in these uncertain moments that we are collectively living through, to which we can escape from time to time - places where we can still feel protected and that are disappearing more and more.

Accessibility:
The performance will last about 80 minutes and will take place at the project space Grüntaler 9. No language requirements for understanding the performance. Audience can move freely. Various seating options are available if required please ask our staff (folding chairs, beanbags and cushions).

The showing is a work in progress and can change until the last minute. However, we try to communicate extreme acoustic or visual stimuli in advance. Please note that the space is small (35m2) and can get crowded easily as the seating is not fixed.

The Grüntaler 9 space is at ground level and is wheelchair accessible via two provisional ramps (16% und 18%). The entrance door is 90cm wide. If you need help with the use of the ramp, please do not hesitate to contact a member of staff. The toilet is not barrier-free.
