»Metamorphosis allows life to connect worlds: each of us as a synthesis of different universes.«
Contact Improvisation is one of the best practices to practice presence, activate our senses and explore our movement experiences in connection with the physical world. Starting from the foundations of movement, we begin to awaken our senses and connect them to the space and people around us. We observe the body as a universe made up of parts that are in constant communication with each other, use CI as an encounter between them and what creates, transforms and effects them. The body as an organic organization that can be soft and strong, fall and fly, stretch and yield. We explore CI through listening, presence, curiosity, interdependence, integration and playfulness. Using elements from Material for the Spine (S. Paxton, the Tuning Score (L. Nelson) and Contact Improvisation, we explore awareness and presence - an inquiry that leads us into the unknown, the present and the now, into our bodies and our dance.
Accessibility Note
The workshop will be held in spoken English, follow-up questions for clarification and group discussions about the exercises can also be translated from/into Italian and Spanish. In the frame of Contact Improvisation, this workshop will include touch and body contact on a regular basis. Recorded music will be used during some exercises. Written language and words will be used for the development of some improvisational scores. There will be different types of exercises, really calm ones to help arriving in the body as well as some material where it is possible to dare. If needed, a free workshop place for an accompanying assistant will be facilitated for participants with disabilities.
