A repertoire and creative-process workshop presented in the mood of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. We will explore quintessential movement forms and qualities, and modes of meshing text with dance and theatre, representative of Tanztheater Wuppertal’s iconic “style”. Much attention will be spent on releasing mature, expressive and potent performative qualities from the participants. Unleashing self-expression through emotive and precise physical and verbal exercises and phrases. A physically and emotionally challenging collaboration.
Accessibility Note
The workshop will be held in spoken English, follow-up questions for clarification and group discussions about the exercises can also be in German. Creative tasks will be in groups, pairs and individuals. Partner work with touching will only be an optional, small part of the workshop. Consensus will be sought on the first day for hands-on corrections, although this would be rarely used. All kinds of music will be used, at low and high volumes to produce emotional ambiance. Coordination and combination exercises and movement phrases to remember will be part of the workshop. The focus of the work will be on the expressive execution of theatre scenes, and movements will be explained and practiced in fine detail. If needed, a free workshop place for an accompanying assistant will be facilitated for participants with disabilities.
