Oblio

Performance Installation · German premiere by Muna Mussie
In the frame of Opening Weekend

With «Oblio»,Muna Mussie invites a selected community of urban society to take part in a ritual workshop. In a Berlin store, an embroidered wall space of memory will be created regardless of the code of language and gender as well as social and cultural roles.

Time acts here as an active element and opens up the possibility for the workshop participants, as well as the subsequent visitors to the resulting performance installation, to change their own perception and create space for catharsis.

«Oblio» sees itself as a temporary anti-monument that is dedicated to the reappropriation of public space and de/constructs historical and private gaps in memory. It was first shown at the 2021 Democracy Biennale in Turin as part of Memory Matters and is based on the observation that there is a strong need for shared, intimate spaces of lamentation in contemporary societies.
On the occasion of the presentation of «Oblio» in Berlin, the new LP «Curva Cieca Oblio ኩርቫ ዕውር ምርሳዕ» by Muna Mussie and Massimo Carozzi will be unveiled, the twelfth release of the XONG collection – artist records, produced by XING - Bologna. The release is a white vinyl in a limited and numbered edition of 150 copies.
