Marlen Pflueger

Marlen Pflüger currently works as a freelance dancer, choreographer, somatic practitioner, teacher and sound artist based in Berlin. Her movement practice draws from a queer feminist, interesctional point of view, aiming to shake up the way one sees and moves the body and taking inspiration from both somatic and performative practices. She uses dance as a collective empowerment to escape fixed categories and aesthetics. Marlen completed her Bachelor in Contemporary Dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, graduating with first class honours and winning the Simone Michelle award for outstanding achievement in choreography. During her time there she formed the queer feminist dance collective MassHysteria, with whom she has been performing at various festivals and venues, most notably at the Tate Modern, Victoria and Albert Museum, Resolution Festival and Dampfzentrale. Since completing another year of dance training at Performact in Portugal in 2020 she has been employed for choreographic work by the Goethe Institut and has worked as dramaturgical assistant and performer with various experimental movement artists such as Doris Uhlich, Danilo Andrés, Katharina Senzenberger, Valentina Bordenave and Leah Marojevic and performed work at Uferstudios, Sophiensaele, PAF, Brotfabrik (Berlin), Friche Belle de Mai (Marseille), Tanzhaus (Bern), Teater Albatross (Sweden), most recently at YARAT Art Center (Baku) and Tanzhaus NRW (Düsseldorf). Marlen is currently deepening her research in somatic practices by participating an Unfold Method intensive training with Valentina Bordenave.
