Breaking, Flows & Concepts

Workshop with Lukas Steltner
In the frame of WinterTanz 2024/25

In this workshop we will explore the interface between breaking and contemporary dance. Basic steps from toprocks and footwork will be taught while we explore different concepts such as threading and tracing together and examine the extent to which these dance styles can be used independently of each other. We start with a joint warm-up in which we prepare the body for dynamic movements in space. We will then improvise with different movement concepts and work on concrete material based on breaking. In the spirit of cypher culture and a positive understanding of hip-hop, the focus is on mutual exchange, respect and curiosity. The workshop is aimed at anyone interested, regardless of their dance background.

Notes of Accessibility
The workshop can be held in English and German. The verbal exchange between the participants can take place in any language. We will improvise so that everyone has the opportunity to follow the task according to their energy level, skills and curiosity. If there are corrections with touch, agreement will be sought and consensus sought if necessary. Music will play a role, so it may be perceived as loud.
