Fine-Tuning: dances from darkness

Workshop with Magdalena Meindl
In the frame of WinterTanz 2024/25

We use the inwards-directed energy of the time „between the years” to get in touch with the yet-unformed, with gaps and transitions, in physical sensation, movement, and our imagination. We will start with slowing down and calibrating our senses to frequencies we tend to overhear in our everyday lives by practicing deep listening - notably listening with our hands to another body. Exercises and concepts from Craniosacral Method will provide us with practical tools to modulate our attention, teaching us to hold space for what is emerging. As we progress, we will practice "forms," short sequences of movement. The resistance of the form creates a space in which our individual poetics have room to develop and in which we can experiment with changing states of presence and attention in movement. Finally, we open up the space for improvisation, where we begin to play with the unknown, the questions and fantasies within ourselves and between each other. In solo, duo and group exercises, we mobilize movement desires and develop performative situations.
