This workshop is a unique opportunity to discover how the ancient practices of Tai-Ji and Qi Gong can blend harmoniously with the art of improvisation and Instant Composition. We will immerse ourselves in the basics of Qi Gong, seeking that 'natural, effortless' movement that facilitates deep awareness of body, weight and balance, meditative relaxation. Through practical exercises and movement sequences we will learn how to fuse the principles of Tai-Ji with dance improvisation: verticality and weight, efficient and effortless action, precision in/of movement, from the central axis to the periphery, unity of body and mind in action. Our journey will then take us from an awareness of our body to the artistic and compositional realms. The focus will then shift to the aspect of dance and performance nowadays. This workshop is a unique adventure that elevates the practice of dance and instant composition to new heights of awareness and artistic expression.

 

Accessibility Note 

The workshop will be in spoken English with possible transaltions and/or clarifications in Italian. The very fast paced, spontaneous improvisational tasks and physical movement vocabulary requires a strong background of movement/dance and improvisation.
