With our Solidarity Space we want to provide space for Ukrainian and Russian refugee artists.
As part of Oster Tanz 2022, the Ukrainian dancer and choreographer Konstantin Koval will teach a workshop on improvisation and composition, bringing together refugee artists and the Berlin dance community:
My name is Konstantin Koval. I am a choreographer, born and raised in Ukraine and for the moment I’m staying in Berlin. Nowadays a lot of Ukrainian dancers had to leave their homes and a big part of them are staying in Berlin. I think we have to use this moment to meet and support each other – Ukrainian and Berlin dancers – and exchange our energies. I’m extremely happy to have the opportunity to teach a workshop where we are able to meet and do what we like the most - dancing. So I invite you to come to this workshop. All the money that will be collected will be spread between dancers that need support during this difficult period.
This workshop of improvisation and composition focuses on quality of movement and state of mind. The main goal is to explore hidden possibilities of a dancer, work kindly with layers and put them together to create special and unique structured or non-structured material.

Konstantin Koval
Konstantin Koval, Ukrainian choreographer, dancer, curator, teaching internationally contemporary dance, improvisation and composition for 11 years. During his career he a.o. worked in shows like: "So you think you can Dance","Dancing with Stars", "The Masked Singer". He had an opportunity to work with brands like Guinness, Citroen, HP and others. His work has been recognized at multiple award shows and festivals all over the world. He was fortunate enough to win Gold at LIA for best choreography, best international music video at UKMVA, had multiple wins at Ciclope, Shots awards, Eurobest and others. As a curator of workshop festivals, his focus is on creating and building a dance community in Ukraine, bringing together dance scenes and styles, and bringing people together from all over the world.
