Staying with the trouble requires learning to be truly present [...] as mortal critters entwined in myriad unfinished configurations of places, times, matters, meanings.
Donna Haraway, Staying with the Trouble. Making kin in the Chthulucene.
In this workshop, we want to access improvisation as an instrument to navigate within the opaque mess of a »thick presence«: our individual constitutions and histories, the specific group of people we share those hours of dancing with, space, floor, air and the complex realities of the world surrounding us are all part of our dance. Through exercises that derive from breathing, meditating and movement activation practices, we will awaken our senses and arrive at an embodied and integrated way of moving, seeing and sharing. Improvising together and in front of each other, as well as watching each other improvise will help us to build trust and fall deeper into our dance. The explorations of inner and outer realities through improvisation will be accompanied by a collective reading of short pieces of theoretical and poetic texts that will sharpen our awareness towards our relationships with the (human and non-human) world.
