One Next To Me explores the relationship between tenderness and violence and how these different states manifest in our bodies and in our encounter with other people and bodies. Rather than seeing aggression and tenderness as polar opposites, these are perceived as intertwined states where the transition and change from one state to the other may be barely noticeable. It follows that our choice as to which state we pursue and act upon is also determined by specific circumstances, situations and the encounters we have with other people.

One Next To Me has a mixed cast of dancers and non-professional performers of different ages.

↪ FURTHER BIOGRAPHIES

Raul Aranha was born in India and is now based in Europe. He started with breakdance growing up and moved on to study contemporary dance for two years in Bangalore, India before arriving to Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) and graduating with a diploma in 2022. His interests lie in the mechanics of multiples things from the human body to music to cooking.

Nathalie Baert, based in Antwerp, has studied dance at Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. Since 2016 she worked together with Ian Kaler, Milan Tomasik, Elio Gervasi and Mila Koistinen. Trained in contemporary dance and ballet, she became the artistic leader of her own dance school based in Edegem, Belgium. Since 2020 she puts her focus more on teaching, in her own school but is also teaching workshops based on her knowledge as a performer.

María Casares studied choreography at Institut del Teatre, Barcelona and graduated from the University of Barcelona with a bachelor’s degree in teaching, in the field of physical education. She completed her professional training at SEAD, Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. As a dancer she has worked with choreographers like Ceren Oran, Elías Aguirre and La instrusa, among others. Since 2018 she has been creating and touring her own work.

Fanny Didelot started dancing in Rennes conservatory while studying music. After obtaining the diploma of dance department, she moved to Lille to pursue her training at the CCN Carolyn Carlson’s school where she was attending the company classes and worked with choreographers such as Bertrand d’At and Nina Dipla. Since 2013 she followed the performance undergraduate program in Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD). Currently she is working with Christian Rizzo and Eric Minh Cuong Castaing.

Àngel Duran has a degree in dance from SEAD, Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance and a degree in Art and Design from the UAB, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.  Apart from his own work as a creator, he has also worked as a freelancer for several European companies such as Anton Lachky Company (Brussels), Milla Koistinen (Berlin), DOT504 (Prague) or Stephan Herwig (Munich). He teaches workshops and classes for different formations and European centers.

Erik Elizondo graduated from SEAD Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in Austria. His professional experience includes work and collaborations with Aurora Buensuceso and Ruby Gámez, Aladino R. Blanca, Gavin Webber and Grayson Millwood, Beto Pérez, Cinthya Dueñas, Francisco Córdova, Raúl Martinez, João Cidade, Marion Sparber, Michikazu Matsune, Barnaby Booth, and Milla Koistinen. Together with Dimitri Kalaitzidis, he founded Los Little Guys; making creations, residencies, classes and workshops.

Laureline Mejean studied ballet at the school of Roland Petit in Marseille and further developed her skills in contemporary dance at Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance – SEAD. After graduating, as part of 4.15, a collaborative performance platform, she started to collaborate with various choreographers, such as Milla Koistinen and choreographer María Casares Gonzáles. She spent a few years building her house and working as a guest in projects of Thomas Lebrun.

Elton Petri is an Albanian/ Greek dancer and choreographer. He studied in the Greek National School of Dance (KSOT)  in Athens and Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) from where he graduated with a speciality in choreography. He has worked, among others, with Androniki Marathaki, Ermira Goro, Georgia Paizi, Milla Koistinen, Alix Eynaudi, Meytal Blanaru. He has been awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship by ARTWORKS (2019-2020).

Soul Roberts trained at both the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (UK) and Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (AT). Upon graduating he has worked both in Europe and the UK, collaborating and touring contemporary dance works with the likes of Emma Voltanen, Tanz Company Gervasi, Jan Lauwers, Cecilia Bengolia, Alvin Tran and Katy Hewison. In addition, since 2021 Soul was named an associate artist of Northern Rascals Dance Theatre Company with whom he has  worked since 2019.
