work in progress

shifts – art in movement / David Brandstätter & Malgven Gerbes
In the frame of 8th Tanznacht Berlin 2014
Our body reveals our history. It tells of our roots, our living conditions and our environment. Five dancers from France and Germany and four dance styles meet on stage. They engage with one another, take on the world of the other and develop a common body language. The fury of the Krump, the virtuoso acrobatics of the Break, the openness of Release and the intensive communication of Contact, each brings its own vocabulary and form the basis for a work that burrows deep into the individual biographies of each dancer. Will the work change the dancer’s style? Will it alter that person’s biography and therefore their immediate environment? One thing’s for certain – from this meeting emerges a new form of intense corporeality. A new dance. A new movement, which is the first step to a new world.
