Workshop

Frey Faust
In the frame of Oster Tanz 2019
With the Hendrix paradigm, Frey Faust builds an extraordinary metaphor, inspired by a Jimi Hendrix song, which uses the complex geometrical structure of a butterfly. The shape of quadruple wings allows 'to ride the wind', finding spatial expression and imagine flying. Thereby the workshop focuses on relevant details of this micro- and macroscopic structure and explores how it manifests in the body, strengthen and together with a little 'circus mind' even liberates it.
With the intention of understanding the human structure and collaborating with it while moving, Frey Faust uses the Axis Syllabus lexicon, which he developed, as a resource. The Axis Syllabus is a compendium of information about the human body in motion from various resources such as anatomy, biomechanics, medicine, psychology, social ethics, philosophy and the arts. It is an easy to understand, practical diagnostic tool that helps those who use it to move better with less injury, suggesting a preventative approach to building skill, strength and flexibility, a potential plus for all human activity. The AS lists and compares current knowledge of past and present methods and scientific information. It serves a global community as a resource for understanding, preparing and training the human body for moving.
