How are words used to speak about the movements we act and the actions we see? Do words always communicate what we want or expect them to say? And what about movement, what meaning does movement communicate? Often we act intuitively before we even know what it is we ‘want’ to say. So how aware are we of our own use of movement and words, our means of navigating through life? And digging a little deeper, how does this - often unconscious - relationship between words and movement inform our understanding of the world we inhabit? With his varied experience of physical theatre, Ian Garside, former DV8 and Punch Drunk performer, will propose a playful workshop full of speaking and moving. A creative enquiry into the nature and relationship of words and movement. The workshop will ask whether a reconsidered viewpoint can influence and inspire our performative and choreographic actions. An environment in which we will explore Meaning. And specifically, how we may consider Meaning as inseparable from human action.
