Open Studio
"Time to Meet" is a series of open rehearsals and discussions, a meeting place for exchange and feedback on artistic processes, this time with the artist Yeon-Jin Choi. This takes place within the framework of a residence, which is made possible through cooperation with the Daegu Cultural Foundation in Daegue, Korea. From autumn 2017 until spring 2018 Korean artists will work with Tanzfabrik Berlin.
When spring comes in a country with four seasons, everyone feels excited and movements become more alive. Spring, when the sleeping life of the winter is shown to be alive dusting off dirt and dust. It’s probably the most brilliant time of year. It is like talking about the most beautiful and happy time of life. I think the biggest start in telling that spring is here are flowers. Flowers are synesthetic creatures that contain shapes, colors, and scents. On top of this, they are used as a symbol of life, and as a material of art, in a way that exceeds all ages and places in the world. Flowers are part of our common life to be seen on a picnic, but become different in the artist's sensitive work. There are more feelings than just the force of life. The vitality of flowers is the nature that breathes. It is the beginning of the life cycle that flowers are blooming and bear fruit. It could tell that flowers blooming, falling and bearing fruit is the beginning of life. In other words, a flower's life is like a cycle of life. Even our lives. I would like to share the emotion of longing in the magnificent moments, love and fleeting time of our lives. I hope to gain new life by showing the emotion of that moment. While telling the old stories with a delicate scent, I hope you with that perfume smile along with me.
