Kurs with Julie Carrere

This contemporary dance class offers a soft and conscious approach to movement. It follows a similar structure every week to allow the participants to get more familiar with the material week after week. Attendants of the class are supported to find more agency and joy in their dance by using tools to access new ways of moving. The relationship to music is present throughout the session, with an eclectic selection of genres from different eras. The warm-up is a guided improvisation, allowing the participants to connect to their imagery and sensations as they start bringing movement into their articulations and activate necessary muscle groups for the rest of the class. The class progresses into repetitive sequences on the floor and standing based on coordination, use of weight, gravity, release, expression, and expansion. Julie facilitates this exploration by helping each attendant find more efficiency in dynamic movements. The class culminates in learning and practicing a short choreographic phrase that involves concepts introduced beforehand.
