Endurance is the central theme of Milla Koistinen's upcoming performance series, which deals with physical labour, determination and commitment, as expressed primarily in sport, but also in culture and society.
The series kicks off with ‘GRIT (for what it's worth)’, a work that explores perseverance and resilience as a prerequisite for overcoming individual and collective limits. The powerful solo performance embodies the essence of resistance to hardship, fatigue and obstacles in a deeply personal form. ‘GRIT (for what it's worth)’ makes sport and performance art tangible as cultural and political forces and explores their influence on our collective identity and social dynamics.
Milla Koistinen's works are characterised by a subtle play with repetition and gestures, stillness and movement, recognisably everyday and poetically alienated images. In her choreographies, dance, visual art and music come together across different disciplines.
17.05. 19:00 Family Friendly Environment
In the afternoon performances marked «Family Friendly Environment - All families welcome», parents and caregivers are warmly welcome together with their children. Although the performances are not specifically designed for young audiences, we aim to create a family-friendly environment, both outside and inside the studio. We understand if children cannot sit still throughout and families may wish to leave the performance in between or earlier. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer childcare. Admission is free for all accompanied children up to and including the age of 12.
