Somatic into Contact Improvisation

Kurs with Adalisa Menghini

We begin the class with the Feldenkrais Method, an approach that, through developing movement awareness, equips us to use our bodies more skillfully, efficiently, and easily. This method helps us become more attuned to our own experiences and integrate intention with action. Contact improvisation will inspire our exploration of movement. While there will be individual explorations, our focus will be on contact improvised dance, recognizing that each individual, body, and personality is unique. Exploring, respecting, and integrating these differences into our dance is a key part of our practice.Contact improvisation is a mindful dance, a non-hierarchical dialogue between two or more people. We will deepen our movement practice by incorporating rolling, falling, rising, and lifting with minimal effort, using gravity, balance, and momentum. This process helps us discover ourselves as improvisers and connect with others through movement.
