«Orfeo» is Sasha Amaya‘s choreo-operatic work exploring listening, sounding, proximity, power, and loss. Amaya moves from Monteverdi’s 1607 opera based on the ancient Greek myth to contemporary interpretations of its central themes. Using the interface between music and movement, and a re-casting of feminine-read bodies for all roles, Amaya explores what happens if we turn our attention from Orfeo to Euridice in this fabled tale. Balancing choreographic tools, musical fantasias and the relationality of bodies, the work juxtaposes tension and flow, restriction and agency, script and sensation.
24.11. Family Friendly Environment
With the afternoon performances labelled "Family Friendly Environment - All families welcome", we would like to encourage parents and carers to take part in our stage programme together with their children. Although the performances are not specifically designed for young audiences, we want to create a family-friendly environment. For example, we understand that children may not be able to sit still all the time and that families may wish to leave the performance in between or earlier. Immediately before and after the event, there is a child-friendly area at your disposal with toys and drawing utensils. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer childcare.. Admission is free for all accompanied children up to and including the age of 12.
Information on accessibility will be published here 2 weeks before the showing.
