Ecologies of Somatic Dancefloor Spaces

Workshop with Alvin Collantes
In the frame of WinterTanz 2024/25

In this workshop, we will delve into the somatic inquiries in the body that echoes knowledge of ecology and wisdom in dancefloor spaces. What happens when we curate a collective space of nesting to allow the body to access its unique movement language, its ability to experience the pleasure in moving and the potential to build social sustainability through supportiveness and sharing of resources? The body has a magnificent potential to not only welcome release but to access a state of deep listening where we can grow into connection and celebrate the presence of one another.

Structure of the course of four days:
DAY 1: Dropping into the body. Exploring somatic tools and movement practices to welcome the body to speak to us and to dive into the body's relationship to gravity.

DAY 2: Leaning into our breathe. Exploring poetic ways of moving with our breathe, allowing the breath within us, around us and between us carry ways in which we can move with great ease.

DAY 3: Listening to the space between. Exploring ways in which we can embody giving and receiving through movement. Diving into imagery, visualization and open a movement dialogue on how we can access deep layers of listening.

DAY 4: The power of moving together. Inspired by how trees communicate with each other, we will explore the potential of what it means to move and be moved by one another. How does inspiration show up in the space? How can we invite the wisdom of the group to inspire our access to our potential?
