Uses of the Erotic (WT)

Showing by Daria Iuriichuk

In her essay «Uses Of The Erotic. The Erotic as Power», Audre Lorde claims that “(t)he erotic is a resource within each of us”. She states that
we all are taught to separate the erotic demand from the most vital areas of our lives, other than sex.

How the Erotic could be revisited as apower and an activist practice? During her residency at Tanzfabrik BÜHNE, Daria Iuriichuk explores how the erotic is used in culture in many forms, being a tool of political seduction, othering, empowerment and a way of sustaining life.

Drawing on iconic images from art history and pop culture the showing invites to an erotic cruise through a play of gazes, utopian visions and moments of togetherness. What pleasures keep you alive?

Information on accessibility will be published here 2 weeks before the showing.
