Voice Movement Immersion

Workshop with Randolph Matthews
In the frame of Summer/ing at Tanzfabrik

This workshop experience invites you to explore the fundamental elements of Voice Movement Therapy, unlocking doors to your expressive freedom. Delve into the essence of your voice with the discovery of 10 vocal components, each paving the way for a deeper inner connection. Unleash your primal voice, tapping into the wellspring of your instinctual nature and bringing it together with your own movement language. As you navigate your unique voice and movement patterns, the workshop becomes a canvas for healing, a platform for artistic expression, and a laboratory for self-discovery. This is not just a personal exploration but a shared experience within the embrace of a supportive group. Randolph Matthews guides each session with generosity and encouragement and his heart-centered approach fosters an environment of community empowerment.

Accessibility Note
The workshop will be held in Spoken English, and musical elements as well as the own voice will play an essential role. Improvisation and self-expression, self-awareness and responsibility will be also a big part of the workshop. There will be partner work, but touch is never mandatory. If needed, a free workshop place for an accompanying assistant will be provided for participants with disabilities. Information about our location & studio access in Kreuzberg, which unfortunately are not wheelchair accessible, can be found here. For questions or more information, please contact Zoé Duflot at workshop@tanzfabrik-berlin.de.

Randolph Matthews

Randolph Matthews studied voice at Goldsmiths College London in 2000 in voice repertoire combining Alexander technique and vocal mechanics. Then between 2003 - 2004 Randolph undertook training in Boston USA in Voice Movement Therapy to explore further the relationship of voice and movement through principles developed by voice specialist Paul Newham. Randolph is a world-traveler and has facilitated workshops with groups of diverse people. As a British artist, Randolph is also the only facilitator of African descent offering Voice Movement Therapy. It enables him to tap in the non tangible knowledge he has been exposed to, and that reflects on his work. It generates a warm working atmosphere for participants, who easily find a home-like atmosphere.
