SAY SURRENDER, STAY

Performance · Bits & Pieces Special by Milla Koistinen, Dance Intensive
In the frame of Fold – Weaving Collectivities

Tickets
In «SAY SURRENDER, STAY», choreographer Milla Koistinen, together with the students of the Dance Intensive program, explores the interfaces between architecture and dance.

The source of inspiration for this performance is Koistinen's current engagement with the work of Juhani Pallasmaa, a Finnish architect and pioneer of multisensory spatial concepts, for whom - in contrast to the omnipresent dominance of the eye - the interplay of all five senses is central to our relationship with architecture. What significance do the human senses have for the performing arts? And how can the principles of spatial design be transferred to choreography?

«SAY SURRENDER, STAY» looks for new ways to integrate choreography, sound and visual art into a common landscape. The audience is invited to become part of a soft, sensual space, to linger and spend time together.

12.05.  16:00 Family Friendly Environment
In the afternoon performances marked «Family Friendly Environment - All families welcome», parents and caregivers are warmly welcome together with their children. Although the performances are not specifically designed for young audiences, we aim to create a family-friendly environment, both outside and inside the studio. We understand if children cannot sit still throughout and families may wish to leave the performance in between or earlier. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer childcare. Admission is free for all accompanied children up to and including the age of 12.

Accessibility
No language is needed for the understanding of the performance.

The performance takes place in Studio 14. Studio 14 is almost at ground level. There is no raised area or similar in the studio itself. There is a slight slope of 1.0% from the outside to the entrance of the studio. Studio 14 has two wheelchair spaces. The barriere-free toilet is located in the opposite Foyer of Studio 3, 4 and 5. It is necessary to walk about 6 meters outside to reach it.

Relaxed Performance
Relaxed Performances would like to welcome all visitors for whom sitting still for a long time in the theatre is a barrier (for example autistic people, people with Tourette's, with learning difficulties or chronic pain). Noises and movements from the audience are welcome. Visitors can leave and return to the auditorium at any time. Visitors who need to leave the auditorium can do so and return. Pre-boarding (early seating) and a limited number of beanbags are available for people with mobility impairments. Both can be reserved at ticket@tanzfabrik-berlin.de.

If you have any further questions about the access requirements for this performance, please contact: access@tanzfabrik-berlin.de.
