Everything you perceive in your surroundings is a complex tapestry—a vast nexus where thousands and millions of relationships converge. These relationships emanate from the past, the present, and even our future. Our reality is, fundamentally, a realm of relationships. Embracing the concept that our reality is comprised of our relationships with ourselves, others, and the entirety of existence, this workshop delves into the exploration of relational knowledge. Our journey begins by questioning what we can co-create; how our bodies can learn from simply 'being with' one another. In this experiential exploration, we will engage with gravity, learning from its pull and allowing ourselves to fall, connecting with the earth and the boundless expanse of space. We seek to discover a space that supports us, enabling movement in diverse and dynamic directions. We aim to dance our sense of precarity, our strategies for breathing, moving, meeting, and dancing within an ever-changing and unstable world. Our intention is to cultivate a state of profound presence and focused attention, enabling us to dance the myriad relationships that constitute our being. Contact Improvisation and Material for the Spine will serve as the vocabulary for our bodies, providing a means to communicate and express. We approach the body as a political entity and Contact Improvisation as a revolutionary engagement with relationships.
Accessibility Note
The workshop will be held in spoken English, follow-up questions for clarification and group discussions about the exercises can also be translated from/into Italian and Spanish. It welcomes all bodies and identities to partake in this transformative journey. In the frame of Contact Improvisation, this workshop will include touch and body contact on a regular basis. Recorded music will be used during some exercises. Written language and words will be used for the development of some improvisational scores. There will be different types of exercises, really calm ones to help arriving in the body as well as some material where it is possible to dare.
