Momentum In Space

Workshop with Hoyoung Im
In the frame of WinterTanz 2023/24

The class commences with a series of warm-up exercises that integrate elements from Ashtanga Yoga and Tae Kwon Do. These initial warm-up movements progress into more fluid and circular motions, enabling participants to absorb external energy, blend it with their own, and then release it outward. The awakened body then transforms into an improvisational exploration of space, harnessing the four elements of nature (fire, water, earth, and wind). Following this, participants will receive training in Acrobatic Skills, Floorwork Techniques, Tae Kwon Do, and Traditional Korean Dance Movements, all while maintaining a focus on the handling of their center of gravity. Each movement is carefully sequenced to develop various choreographies encompassing different rhythms and styles, all reflecting the unique artistic signature of choreographer Hoyoung Im.

Accessibility Note
The workshop will be held in spoken English. Movement exercises will include improvisation and set movement vocabulary, where coordination and memory skills will be necessary. The very physical movement vocabulary, often in continues flow, requires a strong background of contemporary dance technique. Information about our location & studios in Kreuzberg, which unfortunately are not wheelchair accessible, can be found here. For questions or more information, please contact Zoé Duflot & Elisabeth Leopold at workshop@tanzfabrik-berlin.de
