In this Afro Fusion Workshop, you'll embark on a captivating journey through a diverse array of dance styles: Azonto (Ghana), Ndombolo (Congo), Amapiano (South Africa), Afro House (Angola), and Jazzé (Gabon). Experience the art of seamlessly blending distinct dance steps into sequences that truly capture the essence of each style.
Throughout this immersive experience, participants will not only master the intricate steps but will also deeply connect with the spirit of each dance. Every exploration of these dances promises to be a personal and profound journey. This workshop serves as a celebration of both movement and culture, with a keen emphasis on musicality, fluidity, impeccable technique, and the richness of cultural heritage. Accessibility Note The workshop will be held in spoken English, follow-up questions for clarification and group discussions about the exercises can also be in German/French. The class will involve working in pairs and fast choreographic sequences as well as offering room for experimentation. Not all movements will be verbalized in detail. Loud, bass-heavy music will be used. Coordination and combination exercises and movement phrases to remember will be part of the workshop. If needed, a free workshop place for an accompanying assistant will be facilitated for participants with disabilities.
