The third edition of this year’s Montag Modus’ «archive of futures» project departs from the intersection of Eastern Europe’s many pasts and futures. The possibilities of this interlaced narrative space are examined through the means of sharing food and stories: a journey into possible Eastern Europe’s futures unfolds through a three-course dinner based on regional cuisine and family recipes, and paired with food, spirits, games, and an artistic program. In a curated artistic environment this opens up new paths and opportunities for exchange. The condition of Easternfuturism is approached through second-hand memories but newly born hopes, identities in-flux and postcommunist diasporas, with the purpose of reclaiming Eastern Europe as a space whose future is yet to be articulated.
Montag Modus is an interdisciplinary event series organized by the MMpraxis curatorial platform. The series centers around performance art, choreography and time-based media. Based in Berlin, the Montag Modus program involves artists and cultural workers both from the city and from the regions of Central and Eastern Europe.

The third edition of Montag Modus’ project «archive of futures» takes the shape of a three-course dinner paired with an artistic programme. We invite 40 guests to join us on a journey into imagining Eastern Europe’s future. The menu is suitable for vegans and vegetarians and is based on regional cuisine and family recipes. Together we will explore different pasts, forgotten traditions, and newly-born hopes. The shared goal? To get together and imagine, reclaim (and taste) the future of Eastern Europe collectively.

The Performative Dinner lasts approx. 2 hours and takes place in Studio 1. It will be held in English. The food may contain gluten, nuts and eggs. No meat or fish will be served. The accessible toilet is located in front of Studio 3.
A limited number of beanbags are available for visitors with physical disabilities. These can be reserved at ticket@tanzfabrik-berlin.de.
Studio 1 has a 1.5 m lowered area, accessible only by 7 steps. Thus, the studio is not barrier-free on the lower area. Access to the upper part of the studio is possible without steps. The studio has two wheelchair places.

Kasia Wolinska
Kasia Wolinska is a choreographer, dancer and author. She was born in Gdańsk and now lives in Berlin. As a dancer and choreographer, she collaborated with, among others, Lina Gomez, Sergiu Matis, Agata Siniarska, Anna Nowicka, Rosalind Crisp, Anton Vidokle. Her own choreographic works include, among others, “KISS” ( 2022 ), “Salvage” ( 2021), “Dance, Pilgrim Dance” (2017). Since 2018, Kasia has been writing a blog on dance and politics www.danceisaweapon.com. Her collectively and individually written texts were published in e.g. e-flux, Palletten, Dialog, and in books Danceolitics or Choreography Autonomies (Art Stations Foundation). From 2019 to 2023 she was a board member of ZTB e.V. Currently she is a member of systering, a transnational collective of artists, writers, dramaturges and cultural workers.
Léna Szirmay-Kalos
Léna Szirmay-Kalos is a Berlin-based performance curator from Hungary. She is the founder and artistic director of the Montag Modus interdisciplinary series and the co-founder of the MMpraxis curatorial platform. Between 2015 and 2018, she worked as a curator at the Hungarian cultural centre, the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin (CHB) where she was responsible for the performance program. Since 2019, she has been working as an independent dramaturge and makes events at the intersection of the visual and performing arts.
Petre Mogoș & Laura Naum
Petre Mogoș & Laura Naum are the founding editors of Kajet, a journal that seeks to critically map and document the Eastern European imagination, and The Future of, a magazine that reclaims lost ideas. Petre is a PhD candidate and lecturer at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, and Laura runs a bookshop in Bucharest, Dispozitiv Books, which also functions as a publishing and editorial laboratory.

Ben Mohai is a Berlin-based producer, originally from Hungary. He studied Linguistics at Freie Universität Berlin and Time-Based Media at Universität der Künste Berlin. While he mostly works behind the scenes, both as a freelancer and for cultural institutions such as HAU Hebbel am Ufer, documenta 14 and the Biennale in Venice, he has also developed his own artistic works and is active as an even host as well.
Otucha Collective is a Berlin based vocal ensemble of female vocal artists, activists, and social workers with an immigrant background. Otucha places their interest in explorations of healing & empowering qualities of the human voice. They mainly work with vocal traditions of rural areas of Eastern Europe and somatic practices. They do performative and public interventions, offering workshops and holding safe spaces for sharing experience of a deep, transforming togetherness in collective sound flow.

Fridvalszki is the co-initiator and graphic editor of the collective Technologie und das Unheimliche or T+U.
