25 Jahre Tanznacht

80 Artists – 25 Hours – 1 Stage

Tickets
In December 1998, a remarkable event took place at the Akademie der Künste: Tanzfabrik, today Berlin's longest-running institution for contemporary dance, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a grand gala. 18 dancers, choreographers, and companies each presented the audience in the sold-out venue on Hanseatenweg with a "performative gift". This glittering celebration was the birth of Tanznacht.

Since its first official edition two years later, Tanznacht has undergone numerous transformations: It has moved from Akademie der Künste to Uferstudios, a one-night event has become a multi-day festival with full-length productions, and it has brought dance and visual arts into a dialogue. One aspect though has always remained the same: Each of the editions has been developed in the light of current issues, questions, and challenges concerning the independent dance scene in Berlin.

This year, the festival is already celebrating its 25th anniversary! We want to take this milestone as an opportunity to recapture the original spirit of Tanznacht: From September 8, 7pm, to September 9, 8pm, we will hold a 25-hour dance marathon at Berlin's Uferstudios. 80 Berlin-based dancers of different generations and backgrounds will present their physical-artistic practice. Within a special stage situation, a kaleidoscope of the various choreographic expressions of Berlin's dance scene will unfold for the audience.

Accessibility
This performance takes place as Relaxed Performance. Relaxed Performances would like to welcome all visitors for whom sitting still for a long time in the theatre is a barrier (for example autistic people, people with Tourette's, with learning difficulties or chronic pain). Noises and movements from the audience are welcome. Visitors can leave and return to the auditorium at any time.

Studio 14 is almost at ground level. There is no raised area or similar in the studio itself. There is a slight slope of 1.0% from the outside to the entrance of the studio. Studio 14 has two wheelchair spaces. The accessible toilet is located in the opposite stall in front of Studio 3. It is necessary to walk about 6 metres outside to reach it.

For more information on accessibility, please visit the Uferstudios website: https://www.uferstudios.com/en/accessibility

Family-friendly
Families with children are most welcome to attend the festival when our Relaxed Performances are showing – starting at the family-friendly time of Saturday morning. Facilities will be provided for children to explore, play and rest in the foyer and car-free courtyard.

While the Tanznacht Berlin festival is not specifically designed for young audiences, this year we are making special efforts to earn the label ‘family friendly’ for the first time. In cooperation with the Dance and Parenthood WG, we are testing family-friendly offers that also enable parents with children to attend dance events. In autumn, the WG will develop a label for family-friendly venues based on the findings of various events.

On Saturday Sept., 9th we offer a free dance workshop from 2:00-3:30 pm with Lea Martini for children from age 5-10 at Uferstudio 1.
