The dots: A Movement Research Practice
Based on the principles of improvisational movement research, "the dots" is a practice that aims to raise awareness of and dismantle (or break with) habitual forms, patterns, and rhythms of bodily organization. Allowing the unexpected to integrate and reshape our sense of physical unity will help us do this.
In this session, we will explore simple ideas such as focusing our attention on a very precise "point" in our body that triggers movement. In addition, the practice is very much based on trust – any kind of decision made during improvisation is "good" and will be accepted without evaluation. In a mode of observation, impulses are used for the next decision-making processes and a dialogue between body action, information and reaction is established that quickly builds on each other.
