The Transformative Body

Workshop with Nora Amin
In the frame of OsterTanz 2023

Building on previous collaborations and workshops between Nora Amin and Tanzfabrik, her new workshop The Transformative Body aims to provoke a transformation within/via the dancing body. By employing Nora’s signature choreographic style, the workshop will navigate with a feminist approach towards re-rooting the self, re-visiting corporal memory and creating embodiments of transformation. By Relying on the vocabulary and techniques of Baladi dance, we will find a ritualistic presence that may lead to a transformative dance for each participant.
Accessibility Note
The workshop will be held in spoken English, follow-up questions for clarification may also be in Arabic or French. No previous dance experience is required. Not all movements will be verbalized in detail, non-verbal communication will be needed as well. Music plays an important role and is used. If needed, a free workshop place for an accompanying assistant will be facilitated for participants with disabilities. Information about our location & studio access in Kreuzberg, which unfortunately not wheelchair accessible, can be found here. For questions or more information, please contact Zoé Duflot & Elisabeth Leopold at workshop@tanzfabrik-berlin.de.
