The workshop – You Make Me Feel (mighty real). Thinking action, seeing and being seen – will play with how perception, imagination, physiology, physics and environment are in a constant interplay in human movement. With a combination of practical exercises and improvisational scores, we are working individually, with a partner or partners, and as a group to cultivate an active interplay between each other and the space. This work fosters deep listening into what’s present, a readiness and availability in the body to the different layers of possibility that arise as we move. We will practice seeing and being seen and question what we mean by material, action and performance. The workshop will introduce elements of Steve Paxton’s Material for the Spine; Lisa Nelson’s preparations for Tuning Scores; Contact Improvisation, and my own current and collaborative researches. This workshop is a place for rigorous curiosity, inquiry/discovery and physical commitment. And it should also be fun.
Accessibility NoteThe workshop uses English spoken language and language will be an important part to see how movement and thoughts are intertwined. The work will use a lot of touch, working with notions of being alongside or with other people. It attempts to create a space of physical noticing. Hardly any music will be used. If needed, a free workshop place for an accompanying assistant will be facilitated for participants with disabilities. Information about our location & studio access in Kreuzberg can be found
