The SichtBar 2018 is a laboratory, a reading island, a library, an archive, an infopoint and a mobile think tank.
What knowledge is available to us? Who conveys it to us? And in which place does this mediation take place?
Black resistances have existed since the beginning of colonization, but they are little documented, not yet disseminated or have too little reach. With the SichtBar 2018 project, a mobile mini library, artist and social worker FrauHerr Meko archives and publishes traces, biographies and positions of BIPOCc. Meko's focus is on black positions. For the Feminist School, HerrFrau Meko specially designs Studio 13, incorporates positions from the performing arts/dance and creates a space to linger together and a center of exchange.
SichtBar has a permanent location at the Mainzer Kunsthochschule. The branch there is a decolonial intervention in the university's stock of knowledge: it brings together a growing stock of literature by Black, Indigenous and People of Color that is not to be found in the library holdings of the Kunsthochschule Mainz.
