The Unconscious Reveled

Performance-Projekt with Tamar Grosz

In this performance project we will dive into a deep trip exploring dreams and the unconscious. The project aims to elaborate on a collective unconscious, one that taps into issues we experience in our current reality but are elaborated by individuals alone at night in dreams. We will performatively exercise reenactment of participants' dreams using the collective group as interpreters. Together, we will look for the metaphorical as well as the symbolic appearances, analyze them in and through motion, and create a performance that collages the diverse experiences.

This performance project asks how to bring the fantastic, impossible, and infinite potential of the imagery into our here and now reality of dancing. How can our dancing benefit from allowing ourselves being in the unreal roam of our mind? What are dreams for? How can our nighttime take an active part of our creative process? Taking inspiration from Jackie Wang, we ask –  If dreaming is the profession of the poet, what is dreaming to us, movers? Is dreaming a point of entry to the world? How may we bring the unreal into reality? Following Carl Jung's theory on the collective unconscious, we will look for shared experiences and ancestral knowledge through physical experimentations.

Additionally there is a Contemporary class with Tamar Grosz from 05.09. – 26.10.2022 | Mon & Wed 18:10-19:40
Embodied Research is an improvisation class open to all levels. The class is a guided movement research session using imaginary tasks. During the class we develop physical awareness, we shift from our everyday physical behavior by breaking from our social inhibition for movement. The work focuses on crating paths for new dancing experiences. It’s about offering our body freedoms of movement, having fun, and working to entrust the control of the mind in the body.
