Instant Composition is a method to create movements, sounds and words in an intuitive and spontaneous way. During the workshop we will work from the physicality of the body to the meaning of the words. Sounds, pre verbal text, logics of grammar, cohabitation of movements and voice will be some of the areas of study touched during the week. The method proposed aims first of all on increasing trust in one's own intuition and spontaneity, and then on the creative aspect of action. Through the participation of the body and the observation of the mind, we will learn to create dances and poetry in the flow of the present moment. Participants will be guided in the workshop through a progressive approach that starts from the simplicity of the individual act, to reach the complexity and richness of an instantaneous group composition.
Paolo Cingolani
Originally from Italy, Paolo Cingolani is a dancer who masters the sophisticated realm of improvisation and instant composition, creating a hypnotic blend of dance and theatre. His work is characterized by a technique that uniquely harmonizes dance with the use of words on stage. Since 2012, he has been a member of Allen’s Line, the Julyen Hamilton's company. Paolo is also dedicated to creating events with other artists, dancers, musicians, and visual designers. His way of staging performances defines a clear poetics of time and space, a singular voice in the sea of contemporary dance improvisation. As a freelancer, he has extensively performed throughout Europe (2005-2023). As a teacher, he has developed a personal body-mind technique (Movement Alchemy) from the combination of Tai-Ji and Qi Gong with the principles of contemporary dance. Since 2006, he has been teaching in schools, universities, and festivals throughout Europe.
