In the frame of Winter Tanz 2021/22
Jonathan Burrows and Scott deLahunta propose an intensive two day workshop looking at different aspects of embodiment. This shared work will draw from a series of podcasts curated by Burrows with members of faculty at the Centre for Dance Research Coventry University, where he and deLahunta work. Contributors include Rosemary Cisneros on marginalised communities, Simon Ellis on questioning practice as research, Susanne Foellmer on choreography as protest, Kate Marsh on disability and Victoria Thoms on identity. Participants will be invited to listen to the podcasts and share online conversation with each of the speakers. Burrows and deLahunta will also present their own research, and time will be given for reflection and discussion from all participants, as well as physical exploration.

Jonathan Burrows
Jonathan Burrows is a choreographer whose main focus is an ongoing body of pieces with the composer Matteo Fargion, with whom he continues to perform around the world. The two men are co-produced by PACT Zollverein Essen and Sadler's Wells Theatre London. His “A Choreographer's Handbook” is published by Routledge and has sold over 16,500 copies internationally since its publication in 2010, as well as being translated into 7 other languages. Burrows is currently an Associate Professor at the Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University.
Scott deLahunta
Scott deLahunta is Professor of Dance, Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University and co-Director of Motion Bank, now hosted by Hochschule Mainz University of Applied Sciences. His research seeks to deepen and apply the understanding of dance as a form of embodied knowledge and choreography as skilful bodily practice. This builds on over a decade of working within contemporary dance companies as research director and facilitator. Since 2010, he has held a research position at Coventry University and assisted in setting up the Centre for Dance Research in 2015.
