Developed by the Brazilian choreographer Chaim Gebber, the Conscious Body System is a set of mental and physical exercises designed to improve body functionality through an improvisation system and combinations based on cross-lateral movements. They are elaborated to develop awareness and improve the individual and social body. The CBS teaches movers how to build up strength rather than saving it, and how to use that strength in a safe and healthy way. It guides movers to be precise and work consciously with their bodies and unique structures. We train the body to magnify basic skills of moving to and from the floor, until we are comfortable with fast weight transitions. This is done by shifting weight, in safe and the personal speeds (as fast as possible, as slower as needed).
Roberta Pupotto
Roberta’s training began in 1998 at Centro Coreografico di Danza in Rome, where she studied with Luciano Melandri, Cristina Amodio, George Bodnarciuc, Roberto Pallara a.o. and completed her artistic formation at I.A.L.S. with Jodi Goodman, Francesco Saracino, Silvia Martiradonna, Bill Goodson. In 2006 she began her professional career in Italy, working with the Revers Dance Company directed by Luciano Melandri and performed in Rome, Pesaro, and New York. In 2009 she moved to Madrid to join the cast of Gran Via’s musical “40 el Musical” and continued to train at Madrid Dance Center and Escuela Mayor de Danza. Since 2014 she has been living in Berlin and is a co- founding member and performer in Chaim Gebber-Open Scene company. She worked since then in Chaim Gebber’s creations: The Green Village, Body Play, For One’s Sake, Exploring Visuals, EMERGENCIA, Absinth, M.O.S.T. in Germany, China, South Korea, Italy, Austria, Morocco and Brazil.
In 2018 she premiered her solo RESILIENZ which was performed at Acker Stadt Palast Berlin, Haraka Dance Festival Tangier and Insitut Français de Fez, Morocco. She works as a guest dancer and performer in Theater’s productions such as Cabaret at Theater Augsburg (2016), Golem and Mujer in RambaZamba Theater Berlin (2021-2023).
Since 2015 Roberta has taught the Conscious Body System in classes and workshops in Germany and abroad.
