Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Kianí del Valle has danced and trained in schools such as Ballet Teatro de Nana Hudo, Ballet de San Juan, Andanza, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Rastro Dance Company, Sasha Waltz & Guests, Matanicola and Costa Compagnie. Del Valle’s own KDV Dance Ensemble, as well as her solo work, have premiered in theatres and museums world-wide. Her body of work discusses displacement, the colonized & decolonized body, androgyny, and character development work through movement and performance. Her transmedial practice includes making performance and dance works for video, theatre, visual art, cinema, and 3D art. She has become the main movement coach for many of Berlin's singers and actors, and collaborates in live performances and music videos with artists and musicians internationally.
